6th Grade

Doris Kolodji is our 6th grade teacher. She has been with the school for many years and all the younger students look forward to being in her class. “Ms. K” empowers students to work hard, have fun and excel! She is enthusiastic and loves the kid energy she gets from teaching. She loves introducing a new concept and watching the kids’ faces light up when they “get it”. The 6th grade class at Assumption takes on a leadership role for the younger grades. It is important that these students learn their actions matter and the importance of being a good role model for others. 6th grade is full of wonderful field trips and learning opportunities.
Here are a few to highlight:  

• Downhill ski day 
• Service projects
• Saint Paul Field Trip including MN Science Museum, St. Paul Cathedral, MN History Center, State Capitol Building.  
• Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center: This is a favorite of so many students. This is a multiple night stay on the North Shore of Lake Superior near Silver Bay, MN. There are hands on environmental studies, rock climbing, etc. Parents are welcome.  
• Pierogi Making Party: This is a fundraiser in which the students take ownership. They oversee everything from taking orders, organizing the community of volunteers, to peeling the potatoes. Nothing teaches a student about hard work like doing it!
